Millcreek’s two state representatives both elected by wide margins

Sahara Hayes and Doug Owens received 73% and 69% of the vote respectively en route to their elections to the Utah State Legislature as Democratic members of the house.

Sahara Hayes is currently a member of the Millcreek Community Council. She says that by working on the city council she, “has gotten to know residents, and the concerns and challenges they face”.

House District 32 now covers the southeast part of Salt Lake City, and dips into Millcreek and South Salt Lake. East of I-15, it nests between I-80 and 39th South, with the western section going north to 21st South.

Doug Owens is a political veteran having unsuccessfully run twice for congress against Mia Love in 2014 and 2016.

Owens is a member of the Utah House of Representatives, currently representing the old District 36. His current term ends on January 1, 2023.
