Millcreek is a city in Salt Lake County, Utah, United States. It is located immediately south of Salt Lake City and has a population of approximately 62,000 people. The city was incorporated in 2016 and is known for its diverse neighborhoods, parks, and recreational opportunities.
Millcreek was officially incorporated as a city on November 8, 2016, after residents voted to incorporate in a special election. Prior to this, the area had been unincorporated and was governed by Salt Lake County. The push for incorporation came from residents who wanted more local control over land use and zoning decisions, as well as increased representation in government. The incorporation process was not without controversy and opposition, but ultimately the incorporation campaign was successful and Millcreek officially became a city in 2016. Since incorporation, the city has been working on building a new city hall and hiring city employees, as well as establishing its own police and fire departments.
